FIND THE SKUNKAPE!!

I thought that this tutorial was interesting at some points, the tips on plagerism and how to avoid it are really good because we don't realize how easy it is to plagarize something just if you don't cite it correctly. The audio parts were helpful because it gave me an audio aspect rather than just visual, which helps alot. Granted this tutorial was a little tedious, it was still good because it gave out valid pointers on writingand for doing research. I personally can't stand research because it has to be done so carefully or you get accused of plagarism and then the whole world comes to an end if that happens. The tips for finding the best information, like the Web or a journal are really helpful because if you are looking for some information on an issue that is current, then either the Web or the Newspaper would be the best place for that because it is so recent. Anyways, I thought that this tutorial was a great way to learn how to effective research and to put it into my writing and that it will definetly help me in the future.

ADVERTISING NOW!

"BUY NOW!" "BUY THIS AND YOU WONT REGRET IT" "THE TIME IS NOW!"
There are so many ads in today's society that it's like you can't go anywhere without seeing something that is being advertised for sale. To me, advertising is just a way for people to throw their product in someone's face and make it sound more wonderful that it possibly is. The only times I buy a certain product is if I've used it before and I'm familiar with it. I usually buy generic items because they are the most cheap and I don't like spending alot of money to begin with. I'm not really swayed by celebrity endorsements because I know that they are just being paid big bucks to even do the ad so I don't really pay mind to them. Most ads will say like "This percentage of the people that tried this product had a 100% success rate" or something like that, that sometimes it's just to weird to believe. I found an ad earlier that was on the web, it went something like this "BUY THIS NOW AND YOU'LL BE SO HAPPY YOU DID! Customers who bought this product have never had any bad experiences with it. Oddly enough, it was for this odd looking treadmill that has both the power of an eliptical and a treaddmill combined. People will sometimes almost say anything to get youto buy their product and it's almost sad at how far they are willing to go. I think they usually just try and show the "positive" side to their product so one never really thinks about the bad effects to buying something. Ads like that are almost always using catchy jingles, flashing lights and sometimes even amazing looking people just to make you be like, "hmmm, I really need that". When most times, you don't.

observing

Later on after class I decided to go ahead and go outside and observe nature before I went home this weekend. I decided to go out to the waterfront and just sit there and stare out into the water. I don't own a pair of binoculars so I just made sure I wore my glasses, because I'm blind without them. I made sure to bring pen and paper, just to write down my thoughts. While I sat there and observed, granted there wasn't that much going on because most wildlife can come out in the night when there is less people. The big picture I noticed was the people who like to go on the lake, the birds I sometimes saw, how it smelled. If you want to know, it smelled like that sweet, water, being out by a lake smell. I don't know how to describe it in the utmost detail, but I figure that you all get what I mean. It had just stormed earlier today so the surrounding areas were all wet and the humidity outside was a killer. I focused on this one marshy area farther out because I bet if you go out there once the sun goes down, you'll find a whole mess of wildlife. I could see birds sometimes flying around there, which was pretty much it. Focusing on the small picture, I watched some birds that flew over the lake, and I noticed that ther really is quite a bit of wildlife here in Fort Myers. The atmosphere around the waterfront is very peaceful, a dreamlike place if you go at the right time. It smelled like grass and water, looked like a very dreamlike place. I could hear all the things surrounding me; people, animals, the water, anything. It felt like a regular beach to me. Granted there's no overload in salt, but it was really nice. A good way to observe nature, I think.

About me

Hello there, my name is Brittney Dunning! I'm 18 years old and I hail from Orlando, Florida. It's a pretty decent town, considering there's some pretty sweet theme parks there; like Universal- which now has the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! There's also Sea World, Wonder Works, and much more if you like exploring your surroundings; and if you don't like theme parks or anything in that scene, there's some really nice parks, movie theaters, bowling, golfing, and even a mall. My town is pretty entertaining for most people.

I was born in Savannah, Georgia and I lived there for about three and a half years, then after that I moved to North Carolina where my family and I lived for maybe two years. Finally moving to Orlando we bought a house in Apopka so I could attend a good middle and high school , with the chance to make some good friends. Luckily I did, and I thank my parents for that. Since I've been a resident in the Orlando area I've included myself in numerous activities to keep myself occupied. I've done cross country, karate, flute, guitar, art, and I also maintained a spot in my high school National Art Honor Society in my junior year. I love sports, yes, football is up there on my list. Ironically though, I don't have like a team that I root for. I just like to see whose playing and who wins/loses. Yes, i know, I'm weird.

As you may have heard in class, I'm a very accident-prone person. I've broken all my fingers and hurt my knee and my ribs and other fun stuff. I won't go into depth with everything but just to skim the surface here.. I did karate and I liked to sparr all the kids in my group and we were required to wear all this padding and stuff to keep us safe, and I was aiming to punch and the way I punched, it broke my index finger. Yes, it was very painful. Then, probably right after that finger healed up I was learning how to do kicks while in mid-air and..well, let's just say it was a bad landing. No, a TERRIBLE landing and when I fell I stuck my hand out as a reflex to catch myself and there went my thumb. Yeah.. I need to be in a plastic bubble. However, as of now I haven't broken anything since I damaged my knee because if I got hurt one more time I wouldn't be able to run again, and that scared me more than anything.

Changing the subject.. I'm a very outgoing person and I love meeting new people and I'm pretty friendly. I get really shy though when I'm placed in classrooms with no one that I know and sometimes I get a little socially awkward, but I usually come out of it. I love making new friends because it enables you to step out of your comfort zone and find people who may have the same interests as you. I'm always up for anything and I like being able to have a good time with friends and enjoying the fresh air. That concludes now what I have to say about myself, considering I don't really like to talk about myself that much, but thanks for reading and I look forward to reading what everyone else has to say!
